Inturotel Cala Esmeralda

We had a great time at Inturotel Esmeralda! The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. A special thank you to Jorge who was so nice with us and who made us feel welcome. He really is the best and is a real asset for the hotel!!! The rooms are comfortable. The pools are very nice and quiet which is a real plus when you want to unwind and relax. The food is very good, there is something for everyone (variety). The homemade soups are excellent! The desserts however are average. The staff at the restaurant is amazing, so kind and accommodating. The location of the hotel is excellent with easy access to the beach and wonderful views from the pool by the beach or from the balcony of the room. The hotel is spotless and very well maintained. The staff is eager to please and always ready to help. We really appreciated the enforcement of the « no beach chairs reservation » rule! Some people think that putting their towel on a chair before opening hours grants them the privilege of having a chair reserved for them when they eventually show up sometimes 2 or 3 hours after!!! The staff is vigilant and we always found chairs at the pools thanks to them! But we must also mention that we were a bit taken aback by a phone call from reception on our first day asking us to remove our beach towel from the edge of the balcony cause it was forbidden and someone apparently told on us!!! This so called rule is not written anywhere and nobody told us anything on arrival! We took the phone call as an aggression and we really felt bad and not welcome at all. So much that we had to go to the reception and tell them how we felt. They apologized and felt sorry which helped us forget about this incident. Finally, it’s a good thing my wife is fluent in Spanish and that I am fluent in English for French is not the staff’s forte at all!!!! Even for the review on the hotel site , I only had the choice between Spanish, English and… German….! To conclude, we had a really great time and are very happy to have chosen this hotel ! Just returned from a 10 day holiday with my partner - The service at Inturotel Cala Esmeralda (Adults Only) was incredible from day 1 to day 10, the staff are kind, welcoming, helpful and friendly. The hotel itself is stunning, extremely clean and modern (with fresh towels being delivered every day and friendly cleaner to clean our room). The hotel has a calming and wellness feeling, where you can truly relax on your holiday. Each room has a spacious bed, beautifully decorated and the sea front balcony views are just amazing. The hotel is located directly opposite the most incredible beach cove, which is buzzing with locals and likeminded holiday goers. The scenery is stunning whilst having a bite to eat at the beach bar, where the staff are fantastic. Short walk into the town from the hotel and the stunning marina is just a short 10min taxi ride (€6) to visit (which is a must see when you are there!). We had half board, where the buffet style breakfast and dinner was delicious, with a large selection of options to choose from, so you always get something different everyday - Great attention to detail also with the presentation of the food. Three outdoor pools to choose from, always sun beds available so it is not over crowded and as it is an adult only hotel, you can truly relax and feel peaceful around likeminded people. Spa is located downstairs where you can change your beach towels every Monday, Wednesday and Friday - Spa includes an indoor pool, steam room, sauna and treatment rooms. The hotel has a diverse range of guests from British, German, American and Norwegian nationalities (mainly couples aged between 25 - 50). I can not recommend this hotel anymore if you are a young couple, who simply just wants to relax on holiday and get a 5* service. The hotel is simply amazing. We stayed 5 days in the room with sea view. One big asset of the hotel is its location. You have direct access to one of the most amazing coasts. In addition the food in the hotel is extremely tasty. Every day we had a different launch and we can say all of them were great. The same applies for breakfast. The pools and spa are also extremely relaxing. The biggest asset of the hotel it is it personal that always greets you with a smile and willingness to help. The housekeepers would leave the room spotless daily! The only disadvantage considering the price range and the fact it is a 5* hotel is the TV in the rooms. (Smart with access to our streaming platforms) Not that you will use it with so many other options around you.

Stayed for 4 nights in I builidng on ground floor, when we took the room and open it a smell of damp hit us, straight away i have asked to change the room but they were fully booked. After 2 days they found another room but was on the last floor so not wanted to change again. I also asked to use an iron for ironing my shirt and they told me its one in the laundry, one that is not really working when u try to use it on steam. Location is beautiful but quality of the room can improve and service to.

While the service is ok and the location is average, the reason for giving one star (as zero is not possible) is because this is not value for money by a long shot. We paid for half board (dinner and breakfast included). Surprisingly there is no water provided during the dinner, one needs to buy water which is 3.2 Euros for 500 ml. I saw a review with the same comment 4 years ago but things haven't changed. Just for this reason alone I am giving one star. However there are other reasons as well. In spite of the pricey rooms, there is no drinking water provided in the room. Again one needs to buy it at 3.2 Euros from downstairs or order room service at 4.2 Euros. For a resort which charges so high this is definitely not what I expect. Another instance is that one evening we went for dinner at 8:30 pm and dinner timings were till 9:30. At around 9, I went to get some dishes and they were already cleared. When I asked about it, the cook/server said that the dish was cleared for the night. I mean if the timings are till 9:30 pm, the dishes should be at least present till 9:30 given that people have paid for dinner beforehand. Another reason for giving one star, the creamer sachets provided in our room were past the expiry date. See the picture. We stayed in the hotel during 25 to 29 Oct and 2 sachets were expiring on 22 Oct and one on 18 Jul. How can a resort like this, provide such things to its guests. So all this leads to me giving one star.
